Peter Buffett’s joyful hopeful calendar
Emmy Award-winning musician, New York Times best-selling author, and philanthropist, Peter Buffett’s pays homage to the traditional advent calendar with the re-launch of his digital advent calendar – originally developed last year. It’s wonderful!
The calendar is meant to inspire others to get involved in their communities or around the world this holiday season. Each day leading up to December 25th, visitors open a virtual door to reveal a way to give back to their community or contribute to global programs.
The re-launch of the calendar is in honor of the passing of Jessica Wasilewski, the artist who provided the calendar’s backdrop, “Winter in Winchester”. Primarily self-taught, Jessica was influenced by her Mother, artist Ann Reeves who encouraged Jessica to develop her imagination. Jessica passed away in April of this year, losing her fight with Multiple Myeloma. During her battle she underwent a bone marrow transplant at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City and was provided free accommodations throughout her treatment through the generosity of the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge. At the bottom of this year’s advent calendar, there is an opportunity to visit the ACS’s website for the Hope Lodge and make a donation in her honor.
In addition to the Hope Lodge, other organizations mentioned in the advent calendar include: Toys for Tots, One Warm Coat, Red Cross’ “Holiday Mail for Heroes” program, and Women for Women.
Among Peter’s unique holiday tips, fans can find tracks from his holiday album, Star of Wonder, behind-the-scenes vlogs, and excerpts from his New York Times best-selling book, Life Is What You Make It.
As the Christmas holiday approaches, I hope you join me in taking a few moments to visit this beautiful calendar online, watch Peter as he personally shows us around NY, listen to and download some wonderful music and support some worthwhile organizations.
