A few months back, I adopted a manatee from SaveTheManatee.org. His name is Whiskers.

If you’ve been visiting LivePeaceandPassion.com for a while, you know that I adore Manatees.. I got permission to share these two wonderful photos with you here. I hope you enjoy them and take a few moments to also visit SAVETHEMANATEE.ORG – a precious organization focused on protecting manatees and their aquatic habitats for future generations.. I am the proud adoptive mom of Whiskers, a West Indian Manatee who is being cared for at the Blue Springs State Park in Florida. I will scan and share a picture of him next post.

There is no mammal like preciously peaceful and curious Manatee. These herbivores are protected under the Endangered Species Act, so grabbing them, feeding, surrounding, or chasing them can be considered harassment and therefore illegal. Manatees need our help and I know there are others, like myself, who believe it is important to spread awareness of this topic. Today, I viewed and want to share an award-winning video that informs of and documents manatee harassment at the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge. I hope you take a few minutes to watch it.
